Training options for Social Care staff, designed to develop a deeper understanding and evidence base around neurodiversity with the aim of improving consistency and equality within Care Act, Care Programme Approach and s.17 Aftercare training duties. Wokingham Borough Council said: “The training received from Autism Champions was engaging and supported the Adult Social Care staff to have a clearer understanding of neurodiverse conditions, including autism, and how to best represent and support individuals while undertaking a Care Act assessment. The training was very informative, memorable, and it offered a lot of practical advice. The delegates got first-hand from a trainer who herself is neurodivergent and was able to reflect on her experience with her own children and time as a social worker.”

Support for High Needs Cases

In person support over a 12 week period

For CYP who may self harm, experience suicidal ideation or are at risk of admission, and placement breakdown, we can provide targeted tailored support with both the young person and their family. This work can help the CYP understand their autistic or ND identify, regulate their emotions,  work out what it was they want to do next and rebuild and strengthen relationships. Our role alongside other professionals involved is to reduce risk and support the facilitation of change.

“AC literally worked their expert magic on this family. They came in when no other service could provide the same service. They are a bespoke provider which is good as they met the young person's individual need in a flexible way. They provide both education and other autism specific support.” Social Worker
