Frequently Asked Questions

Does MY CHILD NEED TO HAVE AN AUTISM DIAGNOSIS FOR YOU TO WORK WITH THEM?

No. We appreciate that waiting lists for Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Assessments are long, and that the process is not always perfect. We will work with children or parents of children where there is good reason to think they may have autism. Please take a look at our Autism page if you aren’t sure what the signs of autism may be.

DO I NEEd to have an autism diagnosis for you to work with me as an adult?

No. We appreciate that waiting lists for Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Assessments are long, and that the process is not always perfect. We will work with any adult who identifies as autistic or who thinks they may be autistic and wants to find out more.

do you work with children or adults who have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (adhd) or other developmental, physical or mental health conditions?

Our specialism is autism. This is the area in which we feel we can offer the best service, and our key criteria is that the child or adult is autistic or may be autistic. However, current research suggests that 50-70% of those who are autistic also present with ADHD. Autistic people are also much more likely to experience depression and anxiety than neurotypical people, and there are a range of physical conditions which commonly occur alongside autism. We would always suggest that you book a Consultation with us if you believe you or someone you care for needs support and that it is possible you or they may be autistic. Within our work will always signpost you to the best support and advice, and many of our Consultants do have experience working with people with ADHD, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, gender dysphoria and other conditions.

Do you accept payment from social care personal budgetS or education health & care plan (EHCP) funding? can I ask my social worker or mental health/camhs nurse for help to fund your support?

Yes and yes! We are also commissioned directly by the NHS, Social Care and Schools in the Oxfordshire area. It is always worth looking into whether there are alternative ways to fund our support, as we appreciate that not everyone will be have access to it. We are a Community Interest Company and therefore we do apply for funding regularly in order to offer reduced packages of support. Currently we are offering the opportunity to purchase Power to Parent as a group of 6 families, at a discounted rate. We also plan to release Power to Parent as a pre-recorded course in order to make it more affordable.
